Hi, I'm Ryan, the owner of 7th Leg.

I've been keeping invertebrates for nearly my entire life. Like many kids, it started with pockets full of earthworms, jars full of bugs, and a constant curiosity about the tiny creatures most people walked right past. That fascination never really went away—it just evolved.

Over the years, I've kept and bred mantids, explored ant keeping, worked with arachnids, and spent countless hours learning everything I could about the animals that make up this incredible hobby. Eventually, that journey led me to isopods.

Ironically, about ten years ago I genuinely thought the isopod hobby was just a fad. At the time, there were only a handful of species commonly available, and it felt like interest wasn't going to get any bigger. I couldn't have been more wrong. Today, the hobby is thriving, new species and morphs are constantly being discovered and developed, and I'm fortunate enough to be a small part of this amazing community.

When I'm not working with my inverts, I'm spending time with my family. My life revolves around my girlfriend, our three boys, a dog, three cats, a turtle, and, if we're being honest, a ridiculous number of invertebrates. Our home is never quiet, never boring, and usually has some new project underway.

7th Leg grew naturally from my passion for the hobby. What began as making things for my own collection turned into creating products for other keepers. Today I offer feeding dishes, food blends, botanical packs, hydration systems, enclosures, and other products designed specifically with invertebrate keepers in mind.

Everything I make is something I use, test, or would gladly use in my own setups. I spend a tremendous amount of time researching, experimenting, refining, and improving products before they ever become available to customers. Whether it's a new food formula, a hydration system, or a simple feeding dish, I enjoy the process of dialing in the details and finding ways to make things better for both the keeper and the animals.

At the end of the day, 7th Leg isn't a large company. It's one hobbyist sharing his passion with a community that has given him decades of enjoyment, learning, and friendship.

Thank you for supporting my small business and being part of the journey.
